Project Overview

The KFI AM 640 50kW Transmitter Facility Tour is a half-hour historical documentary that became a standout success among radio and broadcast engineering enthusiasts, generating nearly 100,000 views and hundreds of passionate comments. This project demonstrates how deeply engaging content and authentic storytelling can resonate with a niche audience.

This documentary was part of a larger archival project that involved digitizing a century of historical media. I personally digitized and restored archival reel-to-reel tapes, and scanned, cataloged, and retouched all historical artifacts featured in the film. I executive-produced, recorded, and edited the entire documentary, shaping it into a modern, accessible piece of broadcasting history.

Self-Guided VR Transmitter Facility Tour

I used Matterport 3D scanning technology to map the entire KFI transmitter facility and convert it into a continuous navigable digital environment. This was 2016, when Google Cardboard and early mobile VR were just emerging. Listeners were able to explore the space at their own pace using only their phones—making the tour accessible, low-cost, and surprisingly immersive for its time.
